	About The Jackrabbits

The Jackrabbits are a bunch of fun-loving softball fanatics from the Richlands area in Southwest Virginia. We play in the Richlands Church Softball League at the Richlands Recreation Park on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the late spring. We try to get involved in tournaments when we can.

We began play in 2002 as a team from Souls Harbor Ministries in Rosedale, VA. Over the years as friendships have been forged between our players, some players have begun attending other churches. In keeping our team together, we decided not to identify with any one congregation. So, we knew we'd need a team name. There was a funny saying some of us would go around saying to loosen up players when in tense situations in a game. In his best Mr. Miagi voice (which wasn't very good), Marcus would say, "Must hit like HAMMER...and run like JACKRABBIT!" a la the Karate Kid movies. Well, the saying kind of stuck with the players, so the name Jackrabbits was a no-brainer for the team.

Our number one priority is setting a Christ-like example on and off the softball field. Of course, we love the competition of the game, but this is secondary to what we call our ministry. We are thankful to God that we have the opportunity and ability to go out and play the game we love so much. We hope that our passion for both playing this game and serving Jesus Christ are always evident when we are on the field.

When a new player comes to the team, we not only add a teammate, we add another member to the Jackrabbits family. Everybody loves to win...and we are no exception. What sets us apart from other teams is, as evidenced on the field, we have more fun than anybody playing the game of softball!

We like to think nobody else has as much fun on the field as we do. That may or may not be the case, but one thing's for sure...we do have fun! Hey, if you can't go out and play with a smile on your face knowing God has blessed you tremendously just to be able to play, then something's wrong.
